The route

A private jeep into Minneriya National Park.

Minneriya National Park is one of the most requested jeep safari routes from Habarana. The park is known for its reservoir grasslands, wetland edges and the seasonal movement of wild Asian elephants that gather around Minneriya Tank when water and grazing are concentrated.

A private safari lets us time the drive around park opening hours, weather and recent wildlife movement. Morning and afternoon slots are both possible, and we recommend the route that gives the best viewing chance on your date rather than forcing a fixed circuit.

Minneriya also suits travellers who want a classic Cultural Triangle wildlife morning: leave Habarana, spend a few hours in the park, and still have time for Sigiriya, Pidurangala or a village visit later in the day.
